Biography

• K A K I G O R I •
GOURMET MERCHANT & FROZEN TREAT SPECIALIST
tumblr_nj9kyb0AiI1r28672o6_500.png

Kakigori always had a nose for high quality ingredients, though she wasn't terribly fond of actually using them in the kitchen. Sure, she picked up tricks here, but it eventually got to a point where she preferred to make her own meals rather than trust another dragon with them. In her old clans this earned her the reputation of being terribly picky...and she was perfectly willing to own up to that title.

Her need to find ingredients that suited her high standards eventually led her to the life of a merchant, though it was hard at first to build up the resources on her own, and to track down and map out all the best sources. It was rough, but slowly but surely she started to build up a clientele base.

She first encountered the dragons of Wayfarer's Rest during Trickmurk Circus. There was back when it was only Bloodstone, Meringue and Syrah, and while she wasn't terribly impressed with the Imperial member of the trio, the other two seemed to take their craft seriously and did very well at that year's cooking competition.

Altering her trade route to visit the Windswept Plateau sooner, Kakigori made sure to locate and pay a visit to Wayfarer's Rest where she got to sample their food first hand. It wasn't the first time she'd had food that met her standards made by another dragon (it didn't happen frequently but saying it never happened was doing a discredit to many fine chefs across the continent), but it was the first time it happened in a clan that had an "open door" policy. The idea of having a place where she could come home to on her travels and find a meal waiting for her was too tempting to wave aside (though for the longest time she pretended she was just "traveling through" before officially making Wayfarer's Rest her home base).

It wasn't long after settling in that she discovered that at that point, Wayfarer's Rest was more of a self-sustaining clan. What they couldn't provide on their own they bartered with other clans, but had no real, dedicated method of making income. Sensing an opportunity she proposed the idea of including meals prepared by the kitchen crew in her inventory. Bloodstone was initially rather dubious of this idea, but changed her mind once she saw the profit Kakigori was able to obtain during a first initial test run.

To Kakigori's credit, this endevour was the catalyst for Bloodstone accepting other dragons into her kitchen as there was no possible way a lone coatl would have been able to feed not just her own clan, but generate inventory for all of the merchants trips all on her own. This also enabled Kakigori to bring back better quality ingredients as the majority of the profits went to the kitchen's own personal budget, allowing them to not draw from the communal coffers as frequently.

Iron Golem F A M I L I A R • G O L E M
Not terribly creative on the naming front, nor seeing the point of naming a mechanical device, Kakigori commissioned the golem from Malachite and Siu so as to have assistance with hauling goods and allowing her to carry more on trips instead of having to rely on MJN Transport all the time. It's quite reliable for most trips, and once she got used to how to give it commands, Kakigori realized it allowed her to nap in her cart and still keep going without having to stop to make camp or find a nearby clan to reside with.

C O W O R K E R • M E R I N G U E
Kakigori will frequently wonder how a coatl with just a limited grasp of the common tongue got the position of second in command of a very high quality kitchen. Then she'll see Meringue in action on a particularly busy day and remember the chef is quite talented in both culinary and organizational skills. But so long as the paperwork necessary for stock and inventory is done on time and correctly she has little reason to strike up a more intimate relationship.
