Hanan had never been out of the Flamecaller's realm before and he envied his mate at her having to travel to the Shadowbinder's domain to create her staff and master her craft. He looked over to her with lidded eyes as he waited for her to decide what she wanted to do.

“I agree,” she started, her voice low and sounding like velvet. He'd fallen for her the first time he'd seen her, the lair elder dumping her into his nest with his brothers and sisters. It had been her eyes at first and later everything else about Anya. The little purple glowing dot flitted about as Anya lowered her claw. “We should take it home, but our family; what do we tell them?”

“Let's just go!” Hanan moved to her side once more, lowering his head toward the ground and lifting his wings from his sides. “We have been thinking of leaving anyways, they are aware of that fact. Why not just go now?”

“This is the only home we have ever known though.” Anya's voice was quiet, saddened as the little creature flitted about them both. She heaved a sigh, shifting on her feet and looking over her shoulder back toward the entrance to their home.

“All I know is that as long as I am with you, Anya, I am home.” Hanan stepped closer to her, nuzzling against her neck and closing his eyes. “Let's just go, slip away in the darkness and let this little thing guide us to our new home.”

“You really want to do this? We don't know what lurks in the Shadowbinder's domain. When I was there we were only on the outskirts, but there was this presence that seemed to be lurking in the shadows simply waiting for us to venture deeper.”

“Did it feel dangerous?” Stepping away from his mate, Hanan grew alert. If there was something out there where they ventured, he would surely fight it head on.
“No,” Anya started, turning to look out over the world once more. “Strangely, it felt like I was...home. Yes Hanan,” spreading her wings, Anya took to the darkened sky. “Let's do this!”

The glowing orb took off at her words, flying out over the lands and Hanan jumped into the air after it, enjoying the evening flight with his mate. They traveled all night and into the morning before the Tangled Woods were even in view. Still, they flew longer, the sun high in the sky before the blue glow suddenly dropped out of sight into the wilderness.

The two dragons dove after it, lighting easily in a small clearing. The glow flitted about before it landed on Anya's shoulder. Hanan sniffed at the air, whipping around and crouching low when he caught the scent of another in the slight breeze. “Stay close,” he growled out. “Something is out there.”

Before he could say more, a dark Pearlcatcher appeared out of the gloom around them. He held his head high, red eyes taking them both in with caution. “I knew you were coming,” he started, voice deep and smooth. “I could feel your presence when you entered the woods. I am one of the lair Guardians and I mean you no harm. We have been waiting for you.”

“We?” Anya asked, her grip tightening around her staff as the little purple orb lifted into the air once more, moving to hover around the new dragon.

He raised a claw, the small glowing creature landing easily on his outstretched digits. “Yes, myself, our Clan leader and of course, our Shadow-mother. You are welcome here in these lands.” Bowing his head slightly, the drake turned back the way he had come. “I also ask for you to accompany me to the lair, where we hope you make your new home.” "I don't think that is possible" Anya said while Hanan nodded.
