Rudewaihir, or Rude as everyone calls him, is the third and final of Andric's apprentices. He has, by far, the worst mouth out of the three, and is the biggest contributor to the sanctuary's money for repairs swear jar (taken from his pitiable salary). Notoriously brash and argumentative, disagreements with the other apprentices often end dangerously close to physical fights. Though his outward personality may seem cocky and confident, in reality he is the most insecure of the trio, and every negative comment against him is taken seriously to heart. Rude gets along best with Terrin, who despite his own short fuse, is careful with Rude's weak emotional armor, and always seeks him out after particularly nasty fights with Rem.

Rude, to the surprise of no one, has been unanimously voted "best babysitter" five times in a row, and can get so wrapped up in games that he and the children under his care end up out past curfew.

Rude was originally the second scion to his mother's company. Though he was the good son in front of his family, in his free time Rude roamed the Quad-Cities picking fights (though never enough to get his family or the cops involved). One morning Rude woke to the sensation of two drills bursting through the front of his skull, and after several long and agonizing minutes found that the pain was the result of two horns beginning to bud on his forehead. Immediately, on unsteady feet, he ran to tell his mother, who then called Andric.* It was decided that Rude would be brought to live and take apprenticeship at the sanctuary until a better solution could be thought up.**
