Biography

Known as a formidable seer and lorekeeper, Penowly is one of the founders of the clan and still Silversprays most valuable advisor whenever there are hard decisions to make.

She stays ever quiet and patient, only speaking up when its absolutely necessary, and offers help to everyone who asks for it, even if he might be a foe already planning to harm her. She tends to often wander around on her own, lost in deep thoughts of possible futures to come, and more or less blind to her actual surroundings.

Guest Story of Manten, a wandering Dragon:
As Manten traveled the world of Sornieth, he slowly realized there was one thing making him different from all the other travelers. Other dragons met each other, talked, screamed ot just glanced at each other all the time.

Manten never met anyone. Yes, he saw other beings everywhere, he strolled around them as close as he wanted and sometimes watched them for a time, but no one ever spoke to him. Or even looked at him. When he tried to talk to others, they didnt react at all. Sometimes they looked a bit irritated and confused for a moment, but then they shrugged their shoulders and decided to forget about it.

It made him wonder, but he wasnt too unhappy. He liked to silently watch the world around him.

He just felt a little concerned about it. Maybe he was suposed to know why he was different? Or maybe someone excepted him to change? If someone ever knew him and waited for him to appear and interact somewhere...he had long forgotten about that someone. He didnt even remember if he had any name himself. Maybe a name was important. Maybe others didnt talk to beings without a name. Was he supposed to find a name by himself first?

One day, when he wandered through the wind territory, he discovered a single white dragon trotting through the woods. She seemed to move in a world of her own, just like him. Did he look like this to others? As if he moved around in a bubble that just overlapped with the surrounding world that all the others lived in?

The other dragon didnt look at him. She seemed deep in thoughts, sometimes she even stumbled or hit her head slightly on a low branch. But she looked peaceful and didnt pay it any mind. Her ivory white scales where covered with coalblack swirls, as if she was a walking piece of paper that someone decorated with an elegant but simple pattern once. Like him, she belonged to the feather-winged Skydancer Race.

Fascinated, he followed her around. But even as he got really close to her, she didnt pay him any mind. Nor did she seem to hear him when he tried to greet her. He even walked shoulder to shoulder with her, letting their wings touch a few times. But all she did was looking around with a confused look and then walk on.
Sadly, she was no different than all the others.

And still, he coudnt forget the tiny bit of hope he had felt around her, so he followed her right into her clan and only stopped when she entered a cave that seemed to be her home. Following her any further felt rude. But while he still fought with himself over turning back or waiting there, he could hear voices from inside.
She was telling someone that she felt as if 'something' was out there! And she was 'meant' to go back there tomorrow and have another look. She would 'see better' in tomorrows light.
A very worried male voice answered that she shoudnt go alone then.
Then they started to argue, something about sunlight and clouds - this time she sounded very worried - and finally they started to discuss the herbs she had collected and sounded somewhat peaceful again.

Manten decided to just go back and wait tomorrow in the place were he had met her today. He was sure she would come back. And exited. Maybe he could actually meet someone tomorrow! And talk with someone not just to someone. He could barely sleep this night.

The next day started covered in thick white mist. It was still very early when two dragons approached Manten's waiting place. One was the skydancer he saw the day before, the other was a little bigger but clad in a dark cloak that covered almost his entire body, wings, horns and all, and the legs, nose and tailtip that might have been uncovered where wrapped tightly in black bandages too. His claws looked white, so his body had problary the same colours as the female. But his silouette was clearly that of an Imperial dragon. He was also wearing strange metal circlets on his legs, each inscribed with dimly glowing red runes. He walked very slow and careful.

'We have luck with this weather' grumbled the male one satiesfied.
'But you know what all this mist in the morning means.' she female answered 'This will be an extreme warm and sunny day soon. I hope we have prepared you good enough.'
' I will be fine' the imperial answered.
She gave a worried but resignant sigh and started to look around. ' I think we are close. But i cant tell more yet. My Sight is still half asleep'
The, using one claw, she started to draw a circle into the earth, big enough for a dragon to sit inside. She added some weird signs all around it, sat inside and toke another look around.
'He is here, i am sure! But i am still lacking the right...angle of view to see him..' she muttered and her companion looked alarmed around.
She saw it and smiled ' I am sure there is no danger here, dear! Just someone needing help.'
He snorted but relaxed again after a while.
While the sun rised, the female drew another circle on the ground, right in front of the one she used before.

'Whoever you are - If you can hear and understand me, sit inside this circle and do what i say until we find a common sign. I do have a feeling that you wish to talk.' she shouted into the woods around them.
Manten hurried to do as she said.
While the sun rose higher, they each sat in their circle now, while the thick white mist didnt dissolve around them. Instead, it seemed to shine brighter itself the more sun it caught.
Manten was told to concentate his glance on certain signs in his circle as she tried to sense his presence.
Many signs had passed until she finally gave an exited little gasp.
'I can see you! Its fine now, you can rise your head and look at me too. Just stay inside the circle please.'
Manten looked at her, mouth gasping open for a while. 'You...really see me?'
'Oh, i do. And i hear you too! You're a grey skydancer, just about my size. May I ask your name? I am called Penowly.'
Stuttering, he had to admit that he problary never had a name before. She smiled and then just named him Manten, the grey Wanderer.

He then learned from her, that he must have caught some kind of curse, either right from hatch or soon after, which was the reason that no one could see him. While it would make him a perfect spy, he wanted to change it if possible. But Penowly was just a Seer. While she had an extraordinary Gift to sense his presence, she lacked the power to heal him.

All she could do was to give him a little wooden trinklet carved with runes.
It would enable him to appear in front of others, but for a very short time. Once the power inside grew dim, he would need a weather just like today, with thick glowing mist and sunlight above, then place the trinklet in the open and let it draw the specific energy of such rare weather.

She gave him the advise to only use it if he found someone who seemed to be a strong sorcerer, who might be able to create a healing spell or at least more helpful things for Manten.

Thankful and exited he left them to travel again. The world seemed bright and new and full of possibilitys now.
