Biography
Kayden had been a lord once, a young one not yet come into his own but a lord nonetheless. Until he'd found out the truth. Mother and Father hadn't been very nice but they'd still been his parents and he thought they'd loved him at least a little even if they were too busy to spend much time with him. He'd been wrong, so wrong, they didn't care for him at all and so he ran. He ran until he hit the endless sea and then hid in the closest town that he could. He only had a few meager expensive things with he sold for money to pay for food but he quickly realized he wasn't ready for life outside his parents halls and that no matter how scared he was he didn't just want his parents to win. So he started planning, glimpses he'd seen, little things that that had stuck with him now paying off. He remembered a couple of close by clans he now knew his parents wiped out but left intact as warnings, he could raid them for supplies, more things to sell. But he'd need more, much more, he can't do this alone, a no-name with no sway so he'd get some.
He raided the dens, abandoned and desolate but found he wasn't the only one willing to plunder their depths. This is how he meets Davinci and later on, his daughter AraDove, or at least he will meet her after he convinces her father not to kill him. A shouted plea, a desperate proposal in the dark of night but it makes Davinci pause long enough for him to talk out a deal, his help for whatever Kayden doesn't need. Davinci is smart, points out things he hadn't known, hadn't considered and despite being fairly scared of this Nocturne who doesn't care one whit about his heritage he's no slouch in the brains department and points out even more things they could do with the avenues that'd been opened up. In the days following when they sell the plunder and buy a pair of shops to set up their cover he comes to realize that Davinci doesn't think much of him, a spoiled brat but he isn't too insulted by it, doesn't have the time to be in the rush and can't be because he and his partner are about to do most of the heavy lifting.
His knowledge of how to run an estate doesn't amount to much outside of one and getting a similar job was too dangerous anyhow, his parents had eyes and ears nearly everywhere. So he turned to the only profitable hobby he had that could keep him safe, his love of clothes. His parents were arrogant enough to think he'd never stoop so low as work like a commoner. A while after that he almost let's himself forget as he meets AraDove and they help him set up a legitimate business to last for the long haul. He almost forgets because everything is not so bad, Davinci and AraDove almost tolerate him, he thinks and the silence they sometimes sit in is almost comradely. He's gained a new love for Strawberries. He gets to do something he enjoys. He gets to be around dragons who actually smile at him and say good morning and mean it. But he never really forgets because of the nightmares and the cold dread when he spies a dragon wearing his families crest. He never forgets how he has to constantly correct his own legs so he doesn't walk like a noble and comes off as clumsy instead. He never forgets how little he has to talk about with other dragons and the things he can talk about are too dangerous to speak because he shouldn't know them so he comes off as shy. A good cover but he hates it, hates how he still waits for breakfast only to remember he has to make it for himself with meager supplies, hates how his bed is hard and scratchy, hates how cold his baths are, hates how naked he feels and hates how he can't find a decent book that isn't made for hatchlings. Luckily it won't be long now before he can make the first move to dethrone his parents and get his life back.
