Chapter 1
Once upon a time, ______ were a Nature clan. They were a bunch of peaceful hippies who liked to live out in the woods and enjoy life. When a snapper by the name of RedRedRedRedRed (most referred to him as just Red for very obvious reasons) rose to power, a spot previously empty (long live horizontal power structures), the clan was taken in a whole new direction. He appointed Percula (the clan’s oldest dragon) and Willow as the initial Board of Directors.

Red’s initial intention was to make the clan more productive: the Gladekeeper was generous, but an improved organisation could lead to better resource management, and less vulnerability in the face of danger. He assigned roles to every dragon in the clan, which were enforced by his Board of Directors, who had been chosen based on their power in battle. Red watched how the clan grew wealthier, but he couldn’t help but notice that they weren’t growing as strong as he had projected. A clan with great wealth but little capacity to defend itself was at peril of all sorts of plundering. It wouldn’t survive very long.

After some time passed, Red took the executive decision to pledge loyalty to the Plaguebringer, and move to the Scarred Wasteland. He believed that this new deity would allow them to foster the power that he felt the clan lacked. This move lost Red a lot of subordinates, who left, didn’t make it, or simply… Disappeared. The few members left in the clan adopted a nomadic lifestyle - eventually, they evolved into a traveling carnival caravan. Somewhere along this transition, Red took to wearing an Infectionist’s Crown whenever he was in public. He also took a strange multi gaze Imperial known as Glare on as his protege. This dragon kept Red informed of all the comings and goings of ‘his’ clan. Slowly, the perils of the scarred wasteland and the growth of the clan made Red more power-hungry. The happy-go-lucky snapper who had once lived in the Viridian Labyrinth, the same snapper who had once escaped the Scarred Wasteland because he hated the harshness of the life there, was quickly spiraling down the path of megalomania. His collective decisions became increasingly selfish, leveraged by the backup of the clan’s strongest dragons, and the odd tidbit of information that he could use for leverage against those who dared stand up against him.
