Sachi

It was once impossible for dragons to imagine Sachi out of the air. She was true to her breed, constantly in motion, twisting her flight patterns into whimsical figures that even Wind dragons admired. She seldom landed unless she needed to rest or eat (and she tried her best to delay even that by catching insects mid-air). Sachi could often be found helping those who flight came less naturally to, showing them how to trust the power they held in their wings.

It was during one of these impromptu flying lessons that her student was attacked, midair, by a Harpy. Sachi instinctively ripped the beaclan warrior from the young dragon, and soon found herself a target. The fight was difficult and draining. Sachi was no warrior. She was, however, a child of the Flamecaller, and they do not back down in the face of adversity. The two tumbled from the skies, delicate wings being caught and torn by sharp talons, unable to catch even a strong wind.

It was as they neared the ground that the young Spiral twisted until her enemy was facing downwards. When they landed, the craggy earth was not gentle or accepting. The sound of bones crunching and the scream that was the Harpy's death-call would haunt Sachi until her dying days. She lifted herself up, dripping blood, and stumbled to a nearby pool of lava. In the dark obsidian surrounding the pool, Sachi was assaulted by the fractured reflection of her ruined wings. Hot tears stung her eyes, and she wept bitterly, the drops turning to steam before they hit the super-heated ground.

She sunk herself into the warm embrace of the lava, snarling at the pain when her wings breached the surface. No Fire dragon feared the usually bone-searing heat, but her wounds left her oversensitive. She began to lift herself from the pool, frustration searing through her, when she felt a peculiar sensation. The pain in her wings was beginning to soothe. She smiled to herself and sank gratefully back in to the molten earth. Hours passed. Or was it mere minutes?

Sachi awoke, startled, from her unintentional slumber. She decided that it was high time to return home and lick her wounds, so she got up, shivering as the compairitively cool air washed over her body. As she exited the pool completely, she noticed that something was not right. She attempted to strech her wings, preparing for pain. She felt nothing. Nothing moved. She snapped her head back to look at them, and was truly shocked at what she saw. They were encased in crystal. She had seen dragons from the Southern Icefeilds with something similar, and had even heard of the phenomenon occurring in Dragonhome. But never had she heard of their wings becoming immobile. A feeling of vertigo overcame her, and she hung her head.

She would never fly again.
