Malachite's birth parents died when he was far too young to remember them, leading to his egg being lost and abandoned, later adopted by Petrichor alongside Light Chaser he grew up considering Light Chaser his brother. Malachite always loved his brother from a young age, and did everything he could to support him, even after he accidentally destroyed part of Draconequis clan. More brash, violent, and loud mouthed than his brother he often spoke without thinking, causing him to become the target of ridicule rather than his brother.

Wanting to make more of a difference in the clan, as well as become a protector of the clan, Malachite trained under Undyne not long after he was old enough to fly. This lead to him discovering an un-natural strength far beyond dragons his size, as well as a natural ability to fight. As such, he was quick to become a valued member of the clan's defense mechanisms and became a well known and respected soldier.

When Draconequis clan went to war, he was quick to sign up, and due to his overpowering strength and battle training, he was quickly recruited to the "Elemental Fighters." He is used as one of the main fighters of the group and is usually used to break into places others might not be able to go. When he puts his mind to it, there is nothing that can stand in the way of a well timed kick of his leg. He can be a bit overly stubborn at times, and can go a bit overboard when trying to find ways of keeping those he cares about safe.

He had a bit of an antagonistic relationship with ScarletThunder upon first meeting her. The two were almost complete opposites who fought about nearly everything. They became mates after a night of passionate argument and sparring. They are nearly inseparable even though they can never seem to agree.
