ABOUT

Yvaine is a beautiful wind goddess who lived in the skies high above the Singing Reeds. She spent her days dancing among the drifting clouds and the sparkling stars, with not a care in the world. As a goddess, her duties included watching over the dragons below, but Yvaine's fascination of the villages in her care went far beyond that of duty. Unlike the other goddesses, she sometimes spent days upon days watching the dragons go about their daily lives, wondering what life was like below the clouds. On one such day, as she gazed down, she came across a most beautiful sight.

Down below was a handsome skydancer — an herbalist named Danny, she discovered — tending to a field of bright, colorful wildflowers. Yvaine, who was smitten with this sight, kept watching and admiring him as he worked. As time went by, she felt as though her heart was being drawn towards him. His various expressions, his kindness towards others, and his hardworking nature moved her. Before she realized it, Yvaine fell deeply in love with the skydancer and wanted to meet him.

She descended from the heavens and floated down to the field of wildflowers, where she was finally able to meet the herbalist she had been admiring. His response to her descent still makes her laugh. The look on his face! The two of them talked for a long time, and remained in that field of wildflowers until the starlit night hung above them. Month after month, Yvaine came down to talk to Danny in that wildflower field. As she looked into his eyes each time, Yvaine could see no other place she'd rather be, and gave up her spot in the Heavens to be with him.
