Gender: Female Role: Aderyn is in charge of all things related to the Lightning Flight. She is also a mechanic. Relationships:  Xephras and Aderyn are partners in invention. They first met when Xephras approached her for help with a part of one of his inventions. They often collaborate on inventions. |
Personality: Aderyn is a bold and resourceful dragon. While most others take shelter in storms, she rushes into the rain and wind to watch the lightning as it flashes across the sky. She enjoys trekking across rugged terrain in search of scrap metal and bits of older machines to fix up. As tough as she is, she also has a kind personality. She will offer to fix things up for other members of the colony, and also offer advice. She enjoys teaching others her work as well. Facts: -Thistle is Aderyn's favorite food. Unfortunately it doesn't grow in either the Shifting Expanse nor the Sea of a Thousand Currents, so she usually has to make do with Fogflowers. On occasion she does get it from traders. -Aderyn's biggest project at the moment is fixing up a suit of mith construction armor she found on one of her treks. She says she wants to put Harvester in it. It is unclear if she is joking or not. |

History: Aderyn was born to a clan residing within the Carrion Canyon. Unlike her, the clan was a very fearful and paranoid clan. They feared the Shifting Expanse's storms, and hid within a network of holes dug into the side of the canyon. Aderyn was very different from her peers due to the fact that she was very brave. She would wander farther than the other hatchlings, testing how far she could go before an older dragon noticed and dragged her back to the others. Soon her wandering took her to one of the cave openings, with the mysterious conductors and machines of the Lightning Farm gleaming wickedly in the distance. Aderyn grew curious about the machines. "What are they?" she would wonder "what are they for?" She began to visit the opening whenever she could, standing on the edge and speculating the purpose of the farm's existence. A clear answer to her questions came quickly. One day, as she was leaning from her opening, a massive thunderstorm rolled into the expanse. She recalled the older dragons teachings of how violent and dangerous thunder and lightning was, but was soon taken aback by what began to unfold. The lightning struck at the spires of the Lightning Farm, as though it was drawn to them. After every boom and flash the lightning coursed through the spires into the earth, and the spires would remain unharmed. Aderyn gaped with awe. "Something as powerful as lightning could be captured!" was the thought that soon replaced her previous questions as the storm continued to batter the Farm. Eventually an older dragon found her, and after some scolding, took her back to the nest, but that event would embed itself in her head as an interest in the awesome power of lightning, and the enlightening purpose of the machines. As she grew older, her interest developed into an obsession. She began to read any book she came across about lightning and electricity, and was amazed by the fact that it could be harnessed to power machines. She was soon observing lightning storms whenever they appeared, and even began to brainstorm her own machines. However, the other dragons of her clan didn't enjoy this and forbade her from putting her research to use, citing it as a "danger to the clan." Upset by her clan's lack of acceptance, she left in the middle of the night, trekking out into the perilous expanse in search of dragons who would see the use of her ideas. Her journey was long and exhausting, but her search eventually yielded an opportunity. She had wandered into a clan on the edge of the Lightning Farm, in the center of the clan was a small group of dragons struggling with one of the lightning catching machines. From what Aderyn could see, the machine wasn't working properly. She was immediately filled with hope and glee. She had a chance to see the inside of one of the machines, and she could show her knowledge! She approached the group and asked if she could try. The group seemed doubtful, but let her try. After lots of tinkering, cursing, and near electrocutions, she managed to get the machine working properly again. Pretty soon the clan was bringing more machines for her to fix up, and allowed her to remain in the clan. One fateful day, a small group of dragons wandered into the clan just like she had. Intrigued by their journey, and desiring a chance to spread her knowledge, she bid farewell to the clan and joined the traveling dragons. Aderyn, alongside this group, would soon settle down as the first members of the Skull Reef Colony. |
Familiar: Aderyn has a poodle mith partner, known to her only as Harvester. It is a rather unusual partnership, as one focuses on machines and the other earth magic, however they get along very well. Harvester joins Aderyn on her hikes, using his connection to the land's energies to find buried objects that she can use. Inventory:
