From the moment Splint hatched, he was mummy's favourite. While his other siblings had diverged from her interests, all Splint wanted to do was watch as she preformed surgeries. He graduated from watching to helping as soon as he could walk and talk. In his spare time he practiced on cadavers and anatomical models (a few of which he made himself), as well as any food items that bore a remote semblance to dragon anatomy.
By the time he was an adult, Splint was a professional. His bedside manner, which he learned from his father, was kind and empathetic but without pity. His skills from his mother where almost if not as good as hers were, and his encyclopedic memory came from the faes that flittered about the lair. He was proud of his skills and felt it was time to offer his services to a clan who could use the expertise.
Packing his equipment and bidding a teary goodbye to his mum, Splint set off. Wherever he ended up, he knew that he could do a world of good, and that's what being a dangerback was all about, wasn't it?
