Moon is the daughter of Ember from the first clutch and quickly became her favourite. Moon kept herself apart from her two siblings but she became their team leader when they reached adulthood. She is valiant and full of potential. A skilled warrior that harbours a softer, feminine side.Maybe that was what had drawn her to the mild-mannered Coal.

Were your sisters and brothers jealous and maybe a bit hostile to you since you were Ember's favorite? Or did they not care?

Moon hides a smile behind her tail curled up in front of her face.
'Believe it or not, Mother never showed much of favouritism. When we were slovenly or lazy or quarrelsome, we all got lashings. When we showed bravery, diligence or initiative all of us were praised. Mmmm, sometimes I think she only says I'm her favourite because that is what you should say of your firstborn. But I do remember once I caught my first Coral Snake. She showed that to everybody, including Edgar who came with a delivery from the auction house. I can still see him, looking mortified, while Mother is swinging a dead snake in front of his face!' Moon lets out a soft laugh.

'But you are right. I did not get along well with my clutch-siblings. Mm, no. That is not entirely correct. We did get along, but only that. I was a sole Guardian among two Mirrors. Pulsar and Flare always stuck together, leaving me out of their plans and adventures.In their minds, there were only two of them. From early age they were bent on becoming great warriors, worthy of the Flamecaller's army, while I was left to train on my own. But then that was how I caught that Coral Snake, because I wanted to show I was as good as them.'
