Tethys was discovered by scavengers as a hatchling in an abandoned clan, his parents dead. There had been a raid from the Fire Flight on his village, and he was the only survivor. He had one thing with him: a tail guard. Or, to be more specific, his father's tail guard. It was one of the only things that hadn't been taken.

After Tethys was found, he was taken to Strider, the leader of the Darkate clan. The scavengers questioned what to do with him. Some dragons suggested keeping him, some exalted to go fight for the Shadowbinder. In the end, it was up to Strider and Tropic to decide if he stayed or left to go fight. After a small debate between the two, they decided they were going to keep him. He would go under Strider's wing to become what ever he thought fit. After Strider saw his agility and limberness, he decided that he had to be a hunter.

Tethys trained for months and months on end, starting with plushes and ending with live creatures. He soon became known as the best hunter in the clan. At his ceremony to become a true member of the clan and to gain the responsibility for feeding his clan, he met Chrystie, his future mate. He remembers distinctly the way she had looked at him, and it was love at first sight.

Tethys has always been that antisocial dragon who would rather hunt alone than in groups. He's not exactly depressed all the time, in fact, he's usually a pretty friendly dragon. He just doesn't like meeting new dragons. Clashing with his antisocial personality is his fame. He's known all across his clan, and even in some others, as the best hunter and plan maker. Dragons all around admire his determination to make his clan proud.

Strider has had a great impact in Tethys's life. He has always been like a father, telling him what to do and what not to do. He taught him how to hunt, and how to get a mate! *wink wink* He made Tethys feel important and needed in the clan, which he was. Strider always thinks of him as his son, for all of his real sons had been sent away to go fight. Tethys is the deputy of the clan
