Valentine

Ashley, my sweet Valentine.

On this day we have been dating for less than 2 days, but we've also been best friends for 13 years. It has been a long time since the first day we met, and I still remember it fondly. Before you I never knew what friendship meant; in fact before you I never really knew what love was, either.

It's not the first time we've tried, but I do have a feeling that it will be the last. Ever since the last time we were an item, I've never stopped loving you. The feelings may have been buried deep, but only because I thought at the time that was for the best. You've shown me in the last few years how to be a better person, and how to really love myself.

I've never really told you how much I care about you. You mean the world to me, and then some. I know it sounds pathetic, but without you, I could not live on this Earth. I would try, I surely would but... Without my other half I'm not sure how long I would last in this world before I perished. I would be a husk without it's soul, a zombie.

You'll never have to wonder ever again who will love you in this world, because that person will be me. In the past I was conflicted, but my true feelings of love were always there... Inside of a treasure chest buried in the center of my heart, protected by my demons.

After two long years I have destroyed my demons. I am now in control of my own heart, mind, and soul. With all that I am and all that I ever will be, I love you. I love you more than any other thing in this world... And I mean that, Ashley. You will always have a best friend and lover within me. I'm so blessed to have gotten this second chance with you... I will do best not to smolder it.
