Ren felt like he was going to retch. A black, oozing creature had just ambushed him. The Shade clawed his way to Ren's face and crawled in his mouth. Ren could feel it sliding down his throat. He staggered. Clinging to a nearby tree he began to slip out of consciousness. He shook his head to clear the clouds. Ren needed to act fast. He needed to expel the demon before it got its roots in. Using his limited knowledge on exorcisms he made a makeshift symbol on the ground. He muttered a few spells while placing stones on the points. It was finished. Ren took a blade and plunged it into his stomach. Black sludge oozed out rather than the neon blue of electric dragons. Ren passed out. His sleep was anything but restful. Nightmares plagued his mind and he screamed in his sleep. After what seemed like ages the spasms finally subsided. Ren awoke sore and stiff. He cheeked his stomach. The wound was healed but left a long jagged scar. Ren sighed in relief, he had been quick enough. He felt something drip from his mouth. Then he wiped his lips with his hand and found the familiar ooze. Ren tried to speak but the words would not come. Again he tried and a raspy noise escaped his mouth. They were words that haven't been used since the birth of the gods.

Ren has become very reserved since... the indecent. He always sticks to the edges of the pack. Whenever confronted by another dragon he tries to ignore them if possible. Near to none of Ren's clanmates know of his secret or the events leading to it. The ancient language he speaks has power in its words when spoken properly. That information alone could get him targeted by the gods themselves. Only the oldest beings know of the dialect's capabilities. That is part of the reason they are so powerful. Ren is paranoid that someone will discover him. He pushes everyone away afraid that they will reveal him. He is also has extreme haphephobia, meaning he is afraid of being touched. When he travels searching for remnants of the shade he goes alone under the cover at night. Infected creatures are usually small like squirrels or birds. The Shade must gain power though progression. The small creatures will infect a larger one over time. So it goes over time until one is strong enough to take hold of a dragon. Ren stops this process while they are still young. To exorcise one he draws a large circle on the ground will complex patterns weaving inside, leaving a small circle in the center. He then draws symbols along the edge. Ren brings the infected creature into the center and mutters spells in the ancient language. The animal's orifices begin to leak a black sludge. It pools onto the floor filling the center circle. Once the liquid stops oozing the animal is cured, but the job is not done. In order to rid of the Shade he continues his spell. This causes the liquid to evaporate into a thin black smoke. The ritual is done. Ren wipes away the circle and brings the animal to a safe location.
