Ramsey

"Ramsey doesn't talk much!" is what folks say when they think of Ramsey, the one always sat at the edge of the clearing - close enough to the fire to warm his bones. He sleeps next to a dagger, and his skin is as marked and worn as streaked cliffs.

He is greying, hair bunched into a loose bun which looks more flattering in some lights than others, though his broad features and warm eyes do much for him. He wears an old merc's gear - greased leather armour, a questionably white shirt, silver buckles, and a cluster of piercings in both ears - thick gold hoops. He has one scar -across his face leaving his eye blind-, which he never talks about. He frequently complains about his knees, but refuses any and all ointments that Wei tries to give him- it's just a little pain, he says.

For those - perhaps, those with drink, food, or pets - who get to know him, who approach him and sit in silence until he is ready to talk, they find a warm, friendly man entirely at odds with his presence. He is simply shy and worried that if he gets too close to the fire, the mouse who lives in his jacket will get scared.

He had family once, he will tell you. There will be no more discussion on that front, but he will gladly discuss his trails with you - how he trekked desserts, mountains, riverbanks, how he's done every job under the sun from heists to assassination. He may even share a recipe, for he loves cooking and food. Occasionally, he can be seen adding to the stew and whenever he does the taste improves exponentially.

It is not uncommon for him to disappear for days at a time, only to come back with lumber, meat, leathers - whatever the port is in need of. Nobody asks him, but he listens. On occasion, he finds a tome or rune and always hands these over to Wei in exchange for spare medicinal supplies. It was he who brought Iuna her pet, an orphaned baby deer he found who "reminded him of you". He is perhaps, besides Al, the only one Iuna really considers a friend.

During the days he can be found where he can be found at night - by the fire, although by day he sketches out maps of the local areas, along with good spots for hunting -which he despises-, gathering and excavation. They are crude: drawn and illustrated with aching fingers, but Wei is always glad to receive them and redraws them when she can. Occasionally, he brings back an injured animal. Some, he releases back to the wild, and others -those missing limbs or too sickly- he passes on to the townsfolk, saying that all need a home here.

[*] His favourite foods are all vegetable dishes. He especially loves turnips and rice.
[*] Sometimes when he wakes up he looks panicked, or sad.
[*] The mouse in his pocket is Jasper, a tiny three-legged critter.
[*] Polishes his blade for comfort but is never seen using it.
[*] Is always the last to go to sleep.
[*] Always willing to lend a hand - fixing up houses, carting heavy goods, finishing your food.
[*] Has a soft spot for younger women- he takes them under his wing.
