Biography
Sargas
The Relicwielder
History:
Sargas was born in the Shifting Expanse, into a clan under the employment of the Stormcatcher. A clan that toiled with cables and machinery under deadly conditions. He hatched from a nest of wires and cables arcing with electricity.
With strange eldritch seeming relics marring his body.
The hatchling’s early life was filled with dreams and a desire for adventure, wandering mazes of machines, dodging stray bolts of energy, and balancing on cable tightropes. He wanted to see the rest of the world, dig deep into ruins and look danger in the eye. But he most of all wanted to solve the mystery behind the strange arcane relics he was born with.
Sargas grew quickly, and as soon as he was old enough, he was sent to work.
“Enough with the daydreaming” his parents said, disgusted, “get to work!”
For long hours he toiled with dangerous machines and cables, the same thing every day. He felt the ordered chaos and repetitive work slowly sap his soul away.
Any hope of adventure he had, any hope of leaving, of escaping this soulless hell faded with every passing day. Until any trace of the former adventurous hatchling was just a forgotten daydream, and he had become a husk of his former self.
Sargas will never forget the day.
A small group of dragons had entered the clan, looking for a place to stay for the night. They were an odd group of different elements. For just a moment, Sargas’s curiosity rose to the surface, a small spark in a cold void. That night, he pressed his ear to their room, something he would no doubt be punished severely for had his clan discovered him, and listened.
They spoke of where they were heading next, of other regions in Sornieth, of different environments, and where they’d been.
They spoke of adventure.
The spark burned into a flame.
They left the next day, continuing their journey, their adventure. Sargas tried to focus back on his work, to return to his monotonous duty, but he couldn’t. There was too much he needed to know, too much he needed to see. The hatchling that had been buried by those soul-sapping years of his life was finally surging back to the surface and lifting into the air.
The flame was a blaze now, an uncontrollable wildfire.
The relics began to glow.
He took off flying, stretching wings that hadn’t been used in a long time.
His former clanmates tried to stop him, tried to grab at his tail and get him back to work. But the Imperial flew far too fast, the relics sparked at anyone who tried to touch him. His flight was fueled by that burning fire. He could catch up to them, they hadn’t left too long ago.
He saw their shapes in the distance.
“Wait!” He shouted, “please wait!”
The group turned to look at him, this Imperial chasing after them, the strange runes pulsing.
They stopped, landing and letting the Imperial catch up. His voice came out jumbled, spilling from his mouth like a waterfall. He couldn’t stay where he was, he couldn’t take the work anymore, he sought adventure, take him with them, take him with them, take him with them-
The leader of the group, a large Guardian, rested a claw on his shoulder. Sargas silenced himself, and looked up at the Guardian. He gave Sargas a warm, gentle smile.
“Come with us.”
And they were off again. Sargas soaring with them, scales, wings, and relics gleaming in a sun he hadn’t seen in a long time.
Onward they flew.
To an inevitable future.
One with Serpents and Monsters.
And to the answers he had long hoped for.
Familiar: A trick of the light follows Sargas around wherever he goes, seemingly attracted to the relics on his body. It flickers in and out of everyone other than Sargas' vision. It is very curious and somewhat clumsy. Sargas has been caught smiling at its antics. |
