Kroner is a very good doctor. So good infact, that others are willing to pay a good amount of treasure for his service. But Kroner didn't become a physician to heal, or even to profit from it. No, he took to studying the arts of the body to become immortal.

Imperials have immensly different lifespans. Some live for 5 years and others for 5 centuries. Most learn to cope with the kind of uncertainty that comes from this fact. Kroner, however, couldn't accept that death could come for him any minute. He loved life, and he didn't want it to end - ever. And so he started to study medicine and dragon anatomy in order to learn how to prolong his life.
He never intended to actually practice medicine... but he needed the money for his research (after all, fresh imperial corpses don't come cheap, and neither do test subjects) and Kroner began to offer his services for a bit of treasure.

The Treesnake clan can use Kroner's skills for free, whenever they need them. The chief healer in the clan is still Yarrow, but he doesn't always have the knowledge to treat certain injuries or diseases. In such cases, Kroner steps in. He is also responsible for overseeing Cyber's illness, and the mechanically-enhanced dragon came to rely on Kroner for both medical and emotional support.
