O R I G I N S

Whisper is a kind-hearted and soft spoken Tundra, born the only child of a sole, elderly pair of Tundras from the Highland Scrub of The Shifting Expanse. His parents, the names and faces of which he has long since forgotten, had no plans to procreate any further after his birth. Now, like all tundra dragons, Whisper found the greatest comfort in the world in being around his family, but he found himself to be lonely more often than not. His parents were often busy or away and, with no others to play with, he found himself wanting company. He wished for someone or something else to fill his days with love and attention.

Though Whisper generally resigned himself to the boredom and loneliness through his adolescent years, he took great pride in creating small stuffed approximations of the family and friends he craved. Whisper sewed, whittled, and carved dolls, effigy's, and puppets until he was surrounded by warmth and companionship. They weren't exactly as comforting as real friends, but they smelled like home and never left him alone. Thhat was good enough for him, for the time being.

The days marched on and it eventually occurred to the Tundra that others must have felt what he felt; dealt with a life of quiet loneliness until they grew and learned how to overcome it. It was in that moment the dragon knew he had to leave his aging parents behind, as loathe as he was to do it, and search for younglings who needed him out in the world. They needed him just like he needed someone, and he would show them all of the love, compassion, joy that he felt in his heart.

Many moons were spent scouring the landscape for abandoned eggs and lost or orphaned hatchlings and Whisper cared for each and every one as if they were his own kin, making sure they had everything they needed and even designing them special dolls. He knew that one day when they were grown they would leave his mind, as does everything a Tundra dragon doesn't smell for an extended amount of time. But, with the special love and care put into the toys, his children could carry a part of him with them forever. His newfound herd grew and flourished for years until, inevitably, one by one his children grew and moved on to explore their own lives.

Left alone again, Whisper sorrowfully wandered deep into the lands of multiple other flights over the course of the next few months, searching for a new family. Eventually, he stumbled upon the fungi and plant covered territory of Clan An Duin. Once the initial accusations of a threat had been dismissed by the leader of the group of dragons, Dross, she questioned the wanderer, and, through mutual need and understanding, made a deal with him. He would become the childminder of the clan and Dross would dedicate a set amount of her resources to finding and rescuing the very younglings Whisper had dedicated his life to searching for.

Now with a stable home and a plethora of rescued youth to care for, Whisper spends his time caring and tending to their various needs and providing all the love and support a biological parent would. The young dragons return the feelings in kind, of course, by weaving flower crowns for the Tundra and bringing him plants they think he'd like. He doesn't mind if he looks a bit silly with his crowns, because hes found his new family in all the little balls of fluff and scales. Whisper is more than content to live out the rest of his days in this arrangement, provided with help from the dragons of Clan An Duin.
