Borealis

After getting lost for the third time that week, Borealis stumbled across a freshly dug out lair in the Zephyr Steppes. Hoping to ask the owner for directions, he called out but got no reply. Realising that no-one was home, he settled down by the entrance to await their return.


Several hours later, a Guardian female flew into view and alighted before him. Borealis was so awestruck by her appearance that he was initially unable to respond to her questions. Upon regaining his senses he immediately introduced himself properly and shyly explained that he was lost. When asked where it was he wanted to go, Borealis found that he had completely forgotten where he had been going. After an awkward silence the Guardian female, who had introduced herself as Alexandria, invited him to stay until he remembered, to which he eagerly agreed.


Borealis remembered his destination that night during dinner, but was reluctant to leave so soon. So he kept silent and spent the next few days assisting Alexandria in building up the lair and nesting grounds. The whole time he privately hoped that she would be impressed enough by his work that she would ask him to join her clan. Days turned into weeks, with Alexandria showing no sign that she was considering him. Fearing that she would lose patience with him and kick him out, Borealis summoned up what little courage he had and begged asked her for a place in her clan.


To his surprise, Alexandria laughed and accepted immediately. It turned out that she had been waiting for him to ask for a long time. For any other dragon she would have asked them first, but she had been concerned that Borealis was intimidated by her and would have agreed out of fear.


Borealis hastily corrected Alexandria on how he viewed her, and in doing so accidentally let slip that he thought she was 'amazing'. Alexandria merely smiled and told him that he was inspiring in his hard work and devotion. With that, Borealis' position in the clan was cemented. Less than two months later the pair became mates.


While officially the clan patriarch, Borealis rarely takes on any positions of authority. He much prefers helping look after the clan's hatchlings while their parents are out on duty. He also assists in foraging expeditions (though he never goes alone for fear of losing his way again) and has sufficient knowledge of plants to be considered an experienced herbalist. While he is dwarfed by his mate, his love and devotion rivals her own in size.
