Alcyonae

"AHOY! Listen up, mates! Captain's done talking: now there's loot to be got!"

This wily Spiral is cheery of tongue and sharp of wit. Alcyonae is perfectly happy to let Zyfernon handle the discipline of the warriors. Her eyes are focused on the prize - filling the hoard with every last piece of junk that can be scavenged. Alcyonae is in charge of distributing pay to the crew, and so works closely with Nephtys - but the spiral's interests are hardly limited to trade. In any skirmish or battle that finds the Horde of the Hull, Alcyonae will undoubtedly end up tangled in the middle of it - and so always knows exactly how much pay a warrior has rightly earned.

In battle, unlike Zyfernon, Alcyonae is geared more towards support. Versatile and quick-minded, she is an invaluable asset to the Hull whether set on the offense or defense. She can make good use of simple herbal remedies and bandages, enough to quickly staunch minor wounds. She is fond of blades and throwing weapons, and her knowledge of anatomy grants her insight to almost any foe's weak spots. While able to briefly hold her own in close quarters, Alcyonae prefers to remain at a distance, sniping enemies with her blades, or else swooping in for swift blows before quickly looping backwards. She is a taunter, and seeks to rile the enemy with very creative insults, all while harrying them with sharp objects.



Like Zyfernon, she arrived at the Hull as a young hatchling, energetic and eager and the most overwhelmingly ecstatic member of the Horde of the Hull. Zyfernon and Alcyonae became fast playmates, and as they grew, close partners. As Zyfernon grew interested in combat, so did Alcyonae, and they trained together under the tutelage of a reluctant combat veteran. The pair are, as Loquaesa laughingly says, always on the same page, but of very different books. Alcyonae always keeps Zyfernon in the loop, and Zyfernon always trusts Alcyonae's looping.

Alcyonae is a furious hoarder - she carries some remedies and bandages in her bags, but the satchels she carries are largely reserved for trophies. Her cabin in the Hull is carpeted and wallpapered with all the many fascinating trinkets she's collected over her life. There are a few items she can't seem to get enough of, but usually she follows the principle of one-of-each. She rarely eats with the rest of the Hull, preferring to catch her meals herself.

Unlike most Spirals, Alcyonae prefers to coil into a ball while sleeping. She's prone to falling asleep quite suddenly when she isn't focused on battle, and it's a favorite game of the hatchlings to roll her down the deck off to her cabin.
