Biography
ELATHA
Moon-bound Sorcerer
Moon-bound Sorcerer
|
Magic comes easily to pearlcatchers, perhaps because of their habit of avoiding direct combat to protect their precious pearls. Elatha has taken that magic a step further and disregarded his native instincts entirely; twisting ice and moonlight together, he focuses his power into intense bursts of blinding cold to drive back his enemies. His power is primarily defensive, raising walls of frozen white magic or freezing his foes to the ground, but when the full moon shines overhead something changes in Elatha. His spells became sharper, more focused, and more terrifying, white light searing through the toughest hide and arcs of frost sending enemies scurrying for cover. Elatha's slightest whisper during this time can send friend and foe alike into the depths of true lunacy. He avoids this talent except in direst need, as the moon-spelled creature no longer acts with any thought for its own safety. When the moon is waning, so does Elatha's power, but aggression instead of potency. He's just as powerful during last quarter as he is when the moon is full, but he prefers to use his whispering mind-magic to calm and quiet instead of invoke the bloodrage. At home, or when away in friendly territory, he also uses this ability to aid in diplomacy, forging strong ties with neighboring clans. Elatha acts as the Clan's liaison with his native Ice flight, and sometimes accompanies Farran on visits to Shadow clans, as well. He, Farran, and Eyvindr are all close friends, and trust each other without question. Elatha accidentally discovered Eyvindr's power when he first used his lunacy magic on the imperial. The rage triggered a shapeshift and scared all three dragons; they've sworn to never speak of it to anyone else. The shared secret has actually deepened the bond between the three of them, oddly enough. Elatha actually trusts the other two enough to let them protect his pearl while he's dealing with ice-weak foes, though he does reclaim it immediately after the threat's over. ![]() Elatha fought alongside the rebels during the Twenty-Fourth Arcane Hunger Games. He has not forgiven the Arena for the loss of his mate, even though Vija restored Dimitra afterward. Dimitra wakes from nightmares on a nearly weekly basis, and Elatha cannot shake the fear of losing her again. No matter the cost to himself, he will ensure no one else suffers as they did. ![]() AHG Participant and 2nd Place in Game 15, Rebel during the Rebellion |
