When the ship the Corps has commissioned first dropped them off on Fishing Island, Pioneer ("Pi" for short) wondered if there had been some mistake. Sent to make alliances with the Beastclans, the Corps had sent them to one of the less visited Starfall islands - at least by dragons. But it seemed that no Beastclan member visited this place either, and whatever information the Corps had gotten was not even wrong.
After raising and exalting three children, Pi didn't feel a strong desire to have any more. Her mate, like the one before, and she had went their separate ways. She trekked the globe, alone, but it failed to feel fulfilling. She had grown up on tall tales of her parents' adventures - sailing the high seas, capturing ships of stolen hatchlings and exalting them in honor of the Shadowbinder. (Okay, the tales weren't the most hatchling-friendly, alright? Her parents' experiences made them rather unorthodox.) And even as Pi went with the status quo, settling down to have children where her parents had theirs, her dreams were still filled with open seas and a good breeze.
But wandering fell short of her expectations and, frankly, bored her. So she joined the Corps. In short order, they paired her with Magellan, gave them their mission, and sent them off. After realizing what had transpired, Pi decided to stay for a while -- after all, every one of her parents' tales had started off with pleasant or less pleasant surprises...
