The fact that he was considered too soft, too weak, too forgiving echoed in the tundra's ears as he walked. He walked and walked down that dirt path, occasionally taking flight to get his bearings. He walked until he came across a fae, sitting in the middle of the path. Her huge magenta eyes looked determined. The fae, however... was just building up a pile of mud. The tundra looked down to her, and asked her what she was doing. He repeated the question several times before she became known of his presence. Looking up at him, she replied, "Building a lair." The tundra looked at the pile of mud, then back at the small fae. She looked young, the same age as he. And so he asked, "How is that a lair? It's just... a pile of mud." The fae blinked a couple of times. "It's the wall." "Err-- ok. New question. Why are you building a lair? Do you have no other place to go?" "I am making a clan. I do not have another place to go." "Even if this was turning into a working wall, a middle of a road isn't a good place." "You seem knowledgeable." "I am about the fact that this isn't working." "What is your name?" "Oh, I'm Fidelis. What's yours?" "Mavis." "Ok, Mavis, so how are you going to build up this clan?" "Do you want to join?" "Wha..? Join?" "My clan." Fidelis was silent after the rose-colored little dragon asked the question in her monotone voice. He sat there and thought about it, but he had nowhere else to go. And so he accepted, "Yes, I suppose I will join your... future... clan." "You can gather the plants!" she smiled. Fidelis laughed. "Yes, I'll be the forager and gather the plants," He walked up to Mavis and sat down next to her. "But before we have roles, we should get a better location for the lair!" And with that, the Clan of the Scarlet Fairies was born. |
