Pilaar Women are all the same....
Not many heard of Torchic before his return from serving the Shadowbinder. Certainly, his name appeared in no history records, and Mystery never talked about her once mate. But Pitch remembered him. And subsequently locked him up in the castle's prison. Cacti, Mystery's second daughter, was overcome with curiosity by this stranger that could have been her father in an alternate universe. She visited him daily, asking him questions about his time in service. Torchic enchanted her with carefully told tales of what it was like. At the end of each meeting, he looked defeated and small in the cell he lived in. Cacti tried discussing this with her parents, her family, her friends, but no one cared. Torchic was essentially forgotten about, even as he remained alive.
Torchic saw that Cacti was upset on his behalf and probed until he realized she feared the same thing happening to her. To become irrelevant by people that could have been worshipping them. To be forgotten or cast away by loved ones. To soothe her fears, Torchic proposed, with a shark-toothed grin, an alliance. In the same voice he used for recounting his life, he told her that they could start their own clan. Cacti agreed and, upon Torchic's release, they left the Nightrage Drag for land near the Earthen border. Torchic created the name "Shattered Gorge", and Cacti anointed them Pilar and Pilaar of their new territory. Torchic is short tempered, but has taught himself to manipulate those around him. What is actually a desire to use people as pawns for his own goals he manages to present as charming eccentricity. It certainly helps when he does very little of the political work, letting his co-ruler become tied up in laws and other messes while he supervises and suggests. In fact, there are only two rules that he's made, officially. Rule One: Dragons are to remain mostly in their dragon forms unless otherwise specified. As Torchic doesn't care for magic, this rule is thought to have been created so as to keep everyone up to prime if war was to be needed. Rule Two:Anyone caught as a spy, as a traitor, or with an unapproved alliance to another clan will be publicly executed for their crimes against the clan. The clan must survive, and no one is to take it down from the inside. |
