Kael is a peaceful dragon and would eat only plants if his physiology allowed.

After studying Sornieth world history, including pre-dragon history, he came to the conclusion that doing anything to excess leads to an imbalance in the life force of the universe. His philosophy in life is to take no more from the world than can be returned.

He is an avid practitioner of a very ancient form of meditation called "yoga," and eats only organic insects that were treated kindly.

When he was young, he made a conscious decision to stop reproducing after the hatching of his one, beloved daughter, Eirys. Even though it doesn't appear to be a problem at present, he felt at the time that he did not want to add to a potential overpopulation problem by continuing to breed, though he didn't begrudge any dragon who wanted to have a large brood.

Caera, Eirys' mother, decided she wanted more offspring - primarily to better serve the Arcanist - and so she and Kael parted ways due to this and other philosophical differences.

When he made the decision to limit his breeding output, Kael never thought he would meet someone else with whom he'd like to reproduce. Then along came Bloodmoon and all his old ideas took a backseat to his love for her. Their first nest may be their last, but he doesn't feel he can stick to breeding limitations. He feels, goofily, that he may try to fill the whole of Sornieth with their love-hatchlings.

The clan's educational director, he teaches many subjects. He also offers non-compulsory yoga classes to hatchlings and any dragons interested in "expanding their inner selves in order to create and live in a better world."
