______ Most assumed that the odd, random relationship of Mana, the Clan's Arcane Representative and Amethyst, the Clan's Director of Magic, wasn't one that had any love in it. The way it was seen by outsiders was a partnership. The children they created, literally, as in, with magic, were tools. He heard the whispers of how there was nothing there other than a pursuit of knowledge and how they just used each other. But... there was so much more. Contrary to the beliefs of even his closest companions, he did not choose Amethyst as his mate, he did not spend hours courting her for no reason. No... there was so much more. So much they didn't see. Amethyst wasn't a tool to him, he could care less if he lost his connection to magic, as long as he could see her. The way her eyes crinkled at the edges when she focused on something, one of the only tells of her true age. The way she became completely, and adorably, absorbed in her job, talking about it to him at speeds he almost couldn't understand. The way she saw things in a way no one else could. He wanted to see the world through her eyes, not just as an Arcane dragon, but more...

______ Then again, he couldn't truly blame them for what they saw. After all, Amethyst... never really felt the same way. Maybe she had, thousands of years ago when they'd first met. Before they were reunited and resurrected, before she lost what... made her a person. She was still his Amethyst now, still his love who danced in the stars, looking for answers within them. But, she never... never seemed to care. Not anymore. When they were younger, before everything... they had a family. Maybe it was his fault. Maybe had he prevented their first death, they would have still been alive now, with real children... their own. They could be a more combined force, the two of them. But, he knew it couldn't be. The only real life which would be for him would be standing silently by her side, helping her to find her place among the cosmos.
