B I O G R A P H Y

His breath sharpened with mounting horror at the newfound emptiness in his mouth, fear grasping violently inside his chest, heart beating as fast as a jackrabbit’s. He opened his jaws, making to speak, but no words left his lips, only a dry screeching. Eyes rolling in fear, he looked frantically around him, only pausing when a talon was laid upon his shoulder. He turned to see a solemn bogsneak just beside his bed.
“You’re safe now, Michael. Don’t try to speak.”

Glory to ice and dragonkind, the banners read where he marched behind.
With claws aloft and eyes aglow, so forth did these young dragons go.
Their teeth were sharp and starkly white, shining with violence that fateful night.
The road was long, with many lost, each skirmish yielded great cost,
But their end came without a cry, for in the dark, their light would die.

He heard the songs the younglings sang, young voices echoing throughout the night, the glow of torches visible from a great distance away. They chanted hymns to their gods, songs of fire and brimstone, extolling the virtue and glory of war, unknowing the great horrors to come. There is nothing beautiful about war, about mate turning upon mate, biting and clawing until crimson blood turned dirt to mud. He shook his head, though he could not speak, and he let out a low, keening hum. What gods above could allow this? What uncaring beings would let these young souls walk headlong into their undoing, if not their untimely death? And yet the steadfast phalanx marched on, footsteps shaking the very ground they traversed.

His sorrowful gaze fell upon a Fae, straggling slightly behind the pack. His wings were scarred and body battered, eyes full of dread at going back.
