Biography

Note: Medeni was the second to be transformed by Cynfor's discovery of The Ouroboros Ritual. She willingly risked it, for the chance to feel more comfortable and at peace in her own body. Even if it had to be a new one for her to feel so. It came as a shock, becoming a Nocturne, but when she gazed at her reflection in the evening pools of the forest, and how her colours melded beautifully with her beloved Vortex who clung to her, she smiled.

Vortex swirled around her, embracing her, scolding her soundly for ever thinking herself less than beautiful- she had always been lovely in his eyes, perfect, didn't need change. Even while she crooned soothingly, he was still studying every speck in her eyes, confirming to himself anxiously that it really still was her- and, typical of her love, never relented his belabouring still the risk she had taken in following a fool like Cynfor in his half-remembered ritual- but she just smiled, gazed at their reflection together in the waters, and wept with joy. Now her outside matched her inside. A centre, a heart, of gold.

BIO
Medeni considers herself a lesser dragon, and has no self worth. While that issue is being worked on by her doctor and mate, Medeni's past still leaves jagged scars across her mind and body. She has a severe distrust of other nocturnes, and seeks to put as much distance as possible between the other dragons and herself, except for helping her mate during surgeries- she doesn't mind when the patients are unconscious, because she would never harm others, it is they who she must be afraid of.

Medeni takes comfort in her birds. Despite knowing where some of her animals end up, she takes individual care of all of them, from her exotic species to her common chickens, and make their lives as pleasant and comfortable as possible. The other dragon respectfully keep their distance from her animals. The only other dragon allowed in her aviaries is Chaia, the Beastkeeper. Her skill with familiars and other animals means the tundra's presence is always welcome. Some days Medeni wishes she could turn into a bird and fly away, never to be seen again, but her mate keeps her grounded. Medeni loves her mate, Vortex, and sticks by him closely when she's not with her birds. He loves her presence, and feels like he can drop his barriers around her. The two rely on each other often. Medeni absolutely refuses to fight, and only does so in dire circumstances, such as once when a wolf pack broke into one of her aviaries- and after the fight was over, she cried disconsolately while she buried each and every one with her bare claws. She hates every minute of fighting and would much rather let others do it for her.

STORY
Medeni has always known cruelty. (hidden for triggers) From the very moment she hatched her own mother threw her across the cave, hissing and snarling at her. She didn't understand why she was so upset with her, and she never would. She would never understand why her mother wouldn't love her. The abuse in and of itself was targeted at everything she did. She would often come home upset with whatever the day dealt to her, and take it out on Medeni. She always took delight in telling her just how worthless and disgusting she was. Soon she started believing it. Confusingly, whenever she was in public, Medeni was crooned over and adored by her father, who tried his hardest to protect her from her mother's hatred. He always loved her, and told her how similar she looked to her mother, which tore her apart. When she grew into adulthood, she immediately kicked her out, telling her that a worthless, ugly thing like her would never be accepted.
Her mother kept all the things her beloved father had ever gifted her, and exiled her from the clan. Medeni was left shivering, hurt, and scared in the middle of nowhere. Fearing that she would end up in a clan just as cruel as her previous home was, she curled up there- underneath the most gorgeous oak tree that was surrounded with glimmering flowers in a rainbow of colors- and waited to die. She had one hope; that it would be quick. Nearly a week later and in unbearable agony, Medeni was awakened by a concerned aqua Fae, from the Tribe Clan of Modremoth and Pyre. The chattering creature explained that help was on the way. With no energy, she did not resist the help that she was offered by the sociable Kafani. They took her back to their home, nursed her back to health, then showed her the only glimmer of kindness she'd ever known, aside from the fleeting memories of her mother. For once she was grateful to be alive. She slowly began to heal. It was a long and tenuous process, but she learned to laugh again and smile. However, even that could not cure her confusion. She constantly forgot things, and often couldn't remember much. The healers said it was a permanent disability caused from the constant abuse she suffered. Nothing would cure it, but she could learn to live with it. Still, others aren't exactly amused to wale up with her outside their doors. Shy and ever observing, she made few friends, but each is precious to her. Her eyes, however, were drawn to the awkward medic, Vortex. She was fascinated by his actions and the way he conducted himself, but she never approached him. She was terrified that he would think she was a common harlot or, worse, everything her mother had called her; annoying and stupid. Surprisingly, he came to her. He confessed everything to her, then ran before she could give him her answer. She sought him out and curled her length around him, which he took as a yes. Now, in their new home of Oakheart, they live together as mates, loving and caring for each other and nursing their broken souls.
