Biography

Stardust Sap Lamp

When she was born, her parents couldn't be troubled with finding her a suitable name. They were much too busy at the time, or at least that's what they said. Her siblings and friends mocked her-- What dragon doesn't have a name? But being a nameless dragonelle didn't stop her from having two beautiful daughters, Phyleas and Valentia. Their father was a charming Wildclaw who took the nameless one into his clan and made her feel welcome. For many years she was happy, what with her daughters and the constant doting.

But his clanmates spread rumors about her; things that she hadn't done where suddenly all her fault. He grew distant from her, preferring instead the company of other, "more honorable" dragons. Her two lovely daughters, the one true source of joy she had, left home and apprenticed themselves to the Lightweaver to escape their parents' constant fighting. No longer wanted by anyone in her own home, she left, determined never to trust anyone-- especially Wildclaws-- again.

She wandered the Sunbeam Ruins, staying away from clans and other loners. She developed a determination to never have a name. She lived like this for ages.

One day, unexpectedly, she met a sage on a little-used road. She made to run off, but he bade her wait. He asked her what she was doing, so far from home and hearth. "I have no need of either," she replied. Such a strong-willed dragonelle intrigued the old soul, and he begged her at least stay for one meal by his fire. He eased her tale of woe out of her, and advised her thus: "Some soul-searching might do you well, my child. At least consider measuring your spirit. Home follows the heart, and love dwells in it. You may even find your name there one day." The old man continued on his way the next morning.

Some time later, she was able to apply the sage's advice when another dragon chanced upon her. He surprised her with an invitation to his clan and, taking the risk, the former loner found herself amongst a group of rowdy dragons. Although at first hesitant, her heart was soon overtaken with the joy of acceptance, and the pleasure of fellowship.

Perhaps it was this new sense of belonging that encouraged the shy young Wildclaw to introduce himself. Ezer had much in common with her, especially the desire to be accepted by peers. And, in time, the both of them found much more than acceptance-- they found family.
Quote:
"A perplexing aura this dragon has; it is barely a shimmer around her wings and yet it is there, vague, and ever mysterious. She seems to disappear at will and reappear most inconveniently, walking among shadows like a ghost with the power to turn invisible. Despite her transparency, the Pearlcatcher's soul has done nothing wrong to appear so frightening and she is no dragon's tool to discard at their disposal-- her kindly nature (even if it is a bit cold) and hospitality are living proof. The outline says it all-- umber is her color. Nothing will get past her undying willpower and morals even if it kills her.

"Under the cover of tender canopies you will nurse a taste for the unreasonable. Crystal water will reveal that your scales have become not your own, and you will grow very ill if you allow a new, twisted sun to influence reality. Revere those who have sold away their herds-- someday they may repay the favor by ending future starvation. They will show you how to ignore the darker turns of time."
