Biography

ace7v9.png

No one knows quite how Snow Leopards originally came to occupy the Cloudscrape Crags. What we do know is that they quickly settled themselves there and developed a reputation as skilled mountaineers, hunters, and explorers.

These dragons, unlike their normal counterparts, will never lose their winter coats. This has been attributed to the high elevation most of them live at, which generally results in much colder weather. As a result, they have developed much stronger wing joints and chest and back muscles. This is necessary for them to be able to work their defensive strategy, which will be touched on later.
They do not have particular feeding necessities, though they will eat plants when available. These dragons have been known to walk miles to eat fresh plants rather than dig for insects or wait to fish.

Snow leopards for the most part are solitary hunters that do not interact with other dragons unless they have to. In rare cases they will act as guides to help dragons travel through the Cloudscrape Crags. Even within their own subspecies they tend to prefer being on their own with the exception to hatchlings.

The Snow Leopards have a love for burrowing into the snow, though during most of the year they occupy caves. Caves tend to be much more stable and durable than the snow dens they prefer during the winter. However, the snow dens are much warmer than the caves during the depths of winter, and allow this subspecies to give off the effect that they are able to appear and disappear at will. Groups of Snow Leopards will often swap dens and caves throughout the year, using each one as more of a way-station than an actual den.

This subspecies will do their best to avoid combat, much like their regular counterparts. However, if combat is imminent, they will do their best to lose their enemy in the mountainous terrain, to which they will almost always have the advantage. After all, they have better camouflage, knowledge of terrain, and experience. If a member of the group is in true danger, these dragons will use their wings to buffet the enemy. There have been recorded cases of dragons being swept off cliffsides and down mountain drainages.
