The Wanderer

Sydyk is the heir of a looooong lineage of fighters, his parents Quetzalcoatl and Sarasvati are the most powerful warriors of their clan and always expected their children to do so as well. All their descendants died on battlefields of were exalted to fight forever in the deities’ conflicts.

Roaming all these wars with his parents, Sydyk slowly lost the love to fight… He got sick of bloody red fields and couldn’t bear anymore the sight of dragons dying like decaying beasts left alone, rotting in the backstage of a butchery. When he asked his father why all those dragons had to die, he discovered that most battles were fought for meaningless reasons such as money, love, power… and was ashamed.

Sydyk had always considered that life was the most precious gift on this world and that dragons could only have to risk it to protect other’s life, liberty and peace. Discovering some people leaded dragons to die for futile mobiles left him devastated. It was not right!

After explaining his parents that he would only continue to fight if he discovered a significant goal, he left his clan and wandered the world, searching for values. Sydyk wandered through many land and provided support for nomad dragons by leading them the ways or planning with them the best journey ever.

During a halt in the Trading Post, Sydyk met The_Witty_Knight, the trickster guardian and immediately disliked him. This young Witty was too carefree, shameless of his actions and pretty wrenching…

But life has its mysteries and Sydyk had to spend some times with the guardian. He discovered that this insolent was scatty but not mean. He had an interesting way of seeing life that slowly matched with Sydyk ones.

The two dragons got along so well that they decided to travel the world with some companions and found a clan. In this clan, Sydyk found something to fight for: a family, a radiant lovely coalt, and a leader with true values.

Clan of the Decaying Sun: Part Three

“You really want to know how I got friend to your grandfather? How come on, lads! I have no time for that!”

If there was something Sydyk dislike more than being disturb in consulting his maps, it was being disturb in consulting his maps by a bunch of hatchlings with disconcerting demand. He sought and considered the two hatchlings: ScarBlood and UnderBlood. These two never got along, well, except when they had annoying questions to ask… Maybe Sydyk’s story could help them calm a bit and take a weight off Shadow’s mind. Poor heir, she had better things to do than continually decide between those two.

“Okay, if you stay quiet, I might tell you some things about your grandfather and me. I must tell you that I had learn about Witty before meeting him and what I learned didn’t really help me to appreciate him. Around the Trading Post, there were lots of stories about a silver-winged guardian who abuse dragons and lure them. Some guys even said he had humiliated many innocents and was currently dealing with the authorities. Long story short, I though Witty was a moron and wished I never had a thing to do with him.

I had often saw him clown around with a tundra, your grandmother, and occasionally, his buffoonery made me lost some clients. But one day, his behaviour surprised me. He was not nonchalant as ever, something seemed to weigh upon him. I thought it was justice but wondered what was happening because Fluffy wasn’t with him. You need to understand me, I thought Witty was a j*rk but your grandmother was really cute and I was afraid she got hurt because of him…

Anyway, when I was at the city’s door, planning the trip of an ambulant merchant, I saw him left and I started to look around for the tundra. She was asking several dragons about Witty but no one would answer. No news of him were good news.

Fearing she might follow him outside the city, I didn’t tell her what I’d seen and secretly hoped she would find a more suitable boyfriend to spend time with… It’s when Witty came back, days later that I understood my mistake. She was not endanger because of him, but he was without her! He was suffering and bleeding but incredibly radiant.

Of course, no one seemed to be pleased by his return and none were eager to heal him so I decided to do it myself. At first, he was apprehensive but when I told him Fluffy was still worry about him, he smiled and relaxed. He told me they had a fight about leaving the city, he didn’t know what was supposed to be that interesting about the outside so he decided to have a look at the border between the Tangled Wood and the Scarred Wasteland.

There, he got lost and faced lots of enemies, without speaking about the landscape that could be pretty deadly for a novice without food and water… But something transcended him. For the first time, he felt was hunger and thirst was really like. He feared for his life but more, he fear that he couldn’t get back to where he belonged, by your grandmother side…

His story was pretty touching but his pure madness put me beside myself! No one would ever wander alone in an unknown place, it was a pure nonsense and as a Wanderer I told him that I wouldn’t allow that any longer.

That’s when he laugh and said:

“Then, show me the way!”
