Saskia

a gentle soul
- has a condition where her legs seize up and sometimes she cannot walk
- her parents did not expect her to live long
- saskia tries to hide her condition so she refuses to walk with a cane or any such thing
- instead, she leans on jack
- they met as children, with saskia's parents providing shelter to the fleeing family
- saskia was shy at first
- didn't know what to do, or what to think
- but they grew older together, best friends
- saskia learned the healing arts and wind magics, she learned how to bend water to her will even though it was clumsy
- she tried, that's what matters
- she saved jack's life, and jack saved hers
- she taught jack how to read and write
- jack taught her how to stab just-so, just in case
- falling in love was gradual
- until one night saskia looked at jack and saw her standing against the stars, saw the scars from a life of trying-to-succeed, saw it all
- and she began to cry, because it wasn't fair that jack would be married off
- but that was the life of nobility
- they ran away together when jack found out saskia's feelings
- now they serve the rebellion at a distance
- and saskia feels selfish
- but she also cannot let jack go
