Matchstick has always been attracted to gold, and he has especially been attracted to traveling across the sea and sky to find gold. He began adventuring when he was younger, and he alwayas found it was a little lonely by himself. This is what caused him to find dragons for his new pirate crew. He found his first-mate, Teagan, when he was out near Redrock Cove. Teagan was fishing off the coast. Matchstick noticed that Teagan had a special skill to him, so he approached him and recruited him for his crew. The two have become like best friends ever since.

Matchstick has hardened over the years after losing his mother, Lynne. He hadn't been in contact with her since he set out adventuring, but one day he decided to pay a surprise visit to his old home. He found his father, Mango, but his mother was nowhere to be seen. His father told him that his mother had gone out fishing one day and never came back. This devastated Matchstick, and he promised that his ultimate goal would be to find his mother no matter the cost.
