Biography

MORIKO

PERSONALITY:
Menhit is a simple soul; she is content to be a cog in the machine and do her part. One day she'll wake up old and tired, and then she'll dig up her hidden hoard, retire somewhere nice, and live out the rest of her life being a cranky old hag. Having grown up in Plague territory, she's committed quite a bit of violence and seen quite a bit more. This said, she's not easily fazed. She'll snark and snip, but usually without any real bite behind it. If she's truly upset, be certain that she'll show it.

She rejects "high" society with other Pearlcatchers. In fact, she rejects most Pearlcatchers on sight. The stereotypical Pearlcatcher gives dragons like her a bad name and a bad reputation for being prissy, cowardly wimps. She is fine with Imperials since she all but openly rejects Lightweaver and other Pearlcatchers anyways.

CURRENT PLOTS:
Probably a sentence or two.

HISTORY:
Menhit is an old comerade in arms of Nijole; the pair used to run in the same warband back in The Scarred Wasteland. The reason why one of her whiskers is shorter than the other is because it was bitten off by her old trainer to teach her a lesson about never holding back. She was a respected as an admirable fighter, and unlike Nijole, the loss of her ability to fly only made her fight harder. The loss occured when her wing membranes began to deteriorate due to an infection. Menhit knew she ran a higher risk of severe, magically-affect infections. She has a personal theory that the risk is part of what motivates Plague dragons to fight as hard as they do. Though her wing membranes have been rendered mostly nerve-dead, something she did herself to stop the pain, the first tear in them was made while she was trying to fly.

She met her mate, weaponsmith, and battle partner, Montu, while studying the use of weapons in the Ashfall Wastes. Montu was studying Beastclan weapons and trying to adapt them for draconic use in both size and shape. The pair enjoyed collaboration on weapon-making as well as sparring and the occasional raid. Neither of them spoke much about their pasts, and they still only know the basics of each others' histories.

Menhit has been hired by Nijole to come to Stormbay and work as a trainer for the knights. She's grateful for the work, but has no head for Nijole's schemes. While once she might have risen through the ranks, she no longer carries those ambitions.

OFF MODEL DESIGN NOTES:
According to PC lore, their whiskers are sensitive so my headcanon is they have nerves but dragons use magic to move them so they're not dragging everywhere all the time. That would be like walking around with your hands dragging on the ground palms-down and you feeling the ground every step. Pearlcatchers can control their whiskers, including having them float; they are flexible but not strong.

One of Menhit's whiskers is shorter than the other.

She tends to wrap her whiskers around her horn so they don't get in the way and aren't in danger (it's a protective gesture similar to when people cross their arms over their chests to protect their cores)
it's also practical so they're not waving around in battle

Menhit's pearl is stunted. She keeps it purposefully small to keep it small and safe. She has a pocket in the lining of her right pauldron which she typically carries it in, although she also has a habit of hiding it under her own tongue. She has lots of other places where she hides her pearl.

Has feline features

Her wing membranes are thin and partial decayed, thus Menhit is flightless. She is however an extremely competent fighter (I need to level her to 17-20 to display competency level), specializing in agiliy, flexibility, and adaptability. She is above par at using her surroundings to her advantage and is quite spry. She uses plague magic to support her physical attacks, for example touching a spear to expediate the infection process of wounds caused by it. She uses weapons with a preference for polearms and spears to keep enemies at bay. She relies on her armor, agility, and spines for defense.
