As with many of the War Boys, Vaen longed for something more. Unfortunately for him, such a luxury was unattainable in his younger years. He showed signs of inheriting his mother's impressive dexterity, and so he was sent to tend to the machines, tinkering here and there with his nimble claws. He hated having such a purpose, and grew to resent the calloused scales around his fingers, often covering them with wraps or gloves.

Rather than lead the life of a laborer as he was born to do, Vaen dreamed of being nobility. He begged his scavenger siblings to bring him anything soft, or shiny- and they didn't always oblige, but he was able to collect a few things that he stashed carefully in his bunk, draping himself in them as he drifted off to sleep. Though he was normally a very mild-mannered dragon, any affront to his hodgepodge of finery was met with ferocity; he was especially adamant that nothing 'dirty' from his mechanic life ever made contact with his things.
