Though the life of any War Boy was a struggle, most found any role preferable to that of a Gladiator. Drax's blood sometimes manifested even in the weaker Nocturne specimens; these Boys tended to be more irritable and feral. Sometimes they would even fight each other with tooth and claw. Glitch witnessed such an altercation, but rather than break up the melee or reprimand his brood, it gave him an idea.

The Arena was born in a hollowed-out cave, beneath even the mechanical toils of the War Boys. Boys who exhibited violent behavior were made to fight there, and disallowed from exiting until one of them lie bloodied and broken on the Arena floor. Thrill was the first Champion, addled by her father's deadly nature, and unable to hold back her feral instincts. Her deep-sated will to survive helped her drown out the cries of her kin, but killing her brethren took a deep toll on her. She disassociated from the world at large, never speaking, barely acknowledging other dragons until they came too close for comfort.

Yet despite it all, in the quiet evenings where she would curl up alone in the Arena pit to sleep, she longed for companionship. A pity that finding it seemed impossible.
