Rayling
Concept and Lore by Raioru

Status: Endangered

Lore: Raylings are solitary creatures. Many are mute, and prefer to communicate via writing and flashes of light, produced from their shining wings. Quite a few love reading and learning so much, that most of their color fades from time spent indoors or inside caves. Even though sighting one is rare, it is considered good luck. Raylings are known to be extremely intelligent, and often are mediators for intense and hostile situations.

Since Raylings absorb so much information, any memories and personal experiences are stored in their shiny, glistening wings. If a Rayling's wings become damaged, the dragon may start to become forgetful. Severe wing injuries or loss may result in severe memory loss, or even irreparable amnesia.

Often Raylings are quite frail, due to their personal habits. This, combined with their wings being a memory holder, has led to many Raylings being excellent casters of recovery and defensive magicks.
