Perhaps the only other dragon more perplexing than Sitara is Keres, the other half of House Shade. The two of them so diligently serving the lingering whispers of the Shade is eerie enough, but where Sitara is silent, Keres counters it with unsettling smiles and his strange passion for the strange and the haunting.

Still, he could be considered a cheerful dragon, especially when set in contrast to Sitara. While his mate watches with her hidden smiles and watchful, calculating eyes, he prefers to engage others up close and personal, often unsettling those around him. Even other members of the Houses find him hard to be around; he and his mate are usually held at an arm's length, which irritates Keres and his fervent curiosity to no end.

Like the Queen, he is Arcane born, but his powers have been so thoroughly corrupted by the Shade that it is no longer recognizable as Arcane magic.
