Cava

Two eggs, round and cold, start to shake. They shudder and crack, revealing a pair tiny hatchlings. The hatchlings' parents lay nearby curled up around a small flame. The male,


"But Dad... You know I'll be able to fly soon!" cried a small blue dragonet.
"Ok, ok. You win, Cava. I'll organize a lesson for you tomorrow with Unastina. She's the best flying teacher in this region, and she's an old friend of mine," replied an exhausted adult Wildclaw, known to his clan as Winta. "But you have to promise not to be too much trouble."
"Thanks Dad! ...Can Dato come to?" Cava added, as her younger brother creeped up behind them.
"Only if he promises to behave." sighed Winta. Cava and Dato squealed in delight and ran off. Cerise, Winta's mate, walked up to him.
"You shouldn't have told them they could fly so early. It's too late now. Just please, don't mention what else they can do. We don't want anyone else getting hurt."
Cerise walked away, the smoke rippling over her scales as she shifted her wings and took off.


"Ah, there you are Cava. I'd like to congradulate you on passing your flying exam. I've never seen a student who can leap as far as you," a crystalline black Wildclaw approached Cava and her brother. "And you Dato, you must be my fastest student yet."
"Thank you, Unastina. We can't wait to start hunting on our own after we leave." Dato said.
