Hyloxalus is shy for a messenger, and when not at work he prefers to hide in small caves, or whatever nook or cranny seems safest at the moment. As such, he can be difficult to find, and is usually only encountered at dusk. For an urgent matter, however, MAYDAY, Erika, Yew, or one of Ghostlight's bloodline will have no trouble calling him out into the open.

He showed an early interest in the buzzing language of the Erikas, and has been trained to communicate with them, now that they are gone, he's one of the few who still remembers their language. From there, he learned the rustling language of trees speaking through the wind. He is comfortable with both the loud monotone of Yew, and the near-silent Aspen, and with those of Ghostlight's blood who prefer speaking in magic than in words.

Why such a shy creature enjoys the company of such strange and powerful dragons isn't exactly known, but they have made full use of it, and he has become the dedicated messenger between them. Though he will carry messages and light packages to other clans as needed, he mostly passes back and forth between the Strange Dragon Clan of the Southern Icefield and the Citadel Clan of the Veridian Labyrinth, and is quite at home with either.

It should not be eaten, licked, or allowed to assist with food preparation, and should be touched with caution.
