Bastet, named in honor of the Egyptian Goddess of protection, joy, and love (and yes, cats), was always one of beauty and grace. Her mother, after bearing a clutch of two nocturnes and a single female imperial, wanted her daughter to have a name that fitted her breed. The name Bast was first suggested, but after long consideration, Bastet's mother decided that it would be better suited for her daughter to have a more feminine name, and added the extra syllable. Her mother knew it would be either a blessing or a curse, burdening her daughter with such a weighted name, but the risk was taken in favor of shaping Bastet's future.

Like most other hatchlings in her clan, when Bastet came of age she was ready to leave her home and find one of her own. She knew that the customs that went along with living in a plague-oriented clan did not suit her well, and instead sought to find a clan that was not so brutish. A thing she found in Jasper's clan, the Dawnling Cadets.

Even deeper than her passive personality, Bastet harbored an underlying note of uncontrollable ferocity by nature that led her to take very quickly to the role of a warrior. For many moons, she happily served her clan and faction, rising quickly to a position of power and adoration from her fellow clan members. She never takes a step back, which sometimes reflects on her personal relationships, but Bastet makes up for it with her undying passion to serve.
