Biography
From the moment she was born, Aether had electricity flowing though her veins. She was instantly attracted to the coils and spires of the Shifting Expanse, and she showed a natural talent for fixing them too. Whenever anything broke in the clan she was always the first one that was called to fix it. Though it might have been easy for a dragon to become conceited with such talent, she did not and instead remained a friendly if not hyperactive dragon (even for a Spiral!).
Her father took great pride in her talent, especially since she bore a strong resemblance to him. In fact, it was this same pride that drove him to bring her with him on a journey back to his Wind home. Convinced that she would show the same talent for flying that she did for machines, he gave her several lessons on the finer points of aerial maneuverability. Of course, being a Spiral, his lessons were a bit scrambled, but she got the gist of it nonetheless. Soon she was flying in stronger and stronger currents as her dad trained her into a flying champion. One day, he simply deemed her ready and brought her to the Twisting Crescendo. Although she was hesitant, she took the challenge eventually with her father's constant urging.
This turned out to be a bad choice, as the swirling vortex quickly overwhelmed her. She crashed into kites left and right until she reached an unusual part of the raging current. It was the eye, a place her father had warned her about. It became hard for her to breathe as various drafts knocked the air out of her and flying debris slammed into her. She quickly fell unconscious, suffering from more than a few bruises and possibly broken limbs. When she woke she was floating in the ocean with no clue of where the closest land was. Dehydrated and starving, she made a few limping strokes toward a random direction before falling unconscious again. It might have been her imagination, but she thought she had seen a pink cliff on the horizon before she went unconscious.
This time, she was bandaged and warm when she woke up. She happened to be in an Arcane clan, surrounded by kind dragons. They told her that they had found her washed up on a rock near the Starwood Strand. Her middle wings had been broken beyond repair and she would never fly more that a few feet again. At first she was remorseful, blaming her father for the fact that she would never feel the freedom of a leisurely glide again. However, since her memory and mechanical skills were perfectly fine, she figured that she could still be useful by becoming the clan mechanic. Eventually, she forgave her father and learned to live without flight, instead becoming stronger in ground based fighting to make up for her lack of mobility.
Though she missed her birth clan occasionally, she knew that she would never be able to make the journey back alone. Even if she did, she wouldn't have a place in her Lightning clan since the spires were all located on high plateaus. Secretly though, a part of her was just didn't want to leave all her new friends and family and was making excuses. To this day, you can still find her in the Starfall Isles, fixing whatever machinery comes her way.
