Many dragons believe that whispering a secret into a leaf and releasing it at night will curry favour with the Shadowbinder - Maple Leaf

Vortex is captain of the clan's warriors. She is powerful enough to go unchallenged, feared enough to get whatever she desires, if she had any desires that we knew of. The only members of the clan who are not too afraid to be her companions are Lector, Sentinel, and Glowwyrm.

Unlike Sentinel, she practices true Shadow magic, expressing it as brute strength. Sentinel is her best friend, and the two often greet each other with Shadow flight rituals that are difficult to understand. They see each other regularly, as she is one of the few dragons that ventures outside the confines of the clan.

Although not physically mute, Vortex is usually silent, sometimes eerily so.
