Somaza is an ancient and wise dragon. With once a fiery temper to test even a Fire dragon, her energy over the years has subsided. She has had time to learn the faults of her past, and uses them to ensure the best outcomes for the future. Somaza's past is a thing of mystery to many newer members of the nomadic clan, as she is wary to share the secrets of her travels. In her absence from the Starfall Isles, she journeyed across Sornieth to the domains of Earth, Light, Ice, and Water, learning the ways of the past and future.

While she says she is too old and tired to play with the younger dragons, she still has a playful heart, and loves to watch their games at a distance.



Somaza was an old friend of Wyelib, their relationship spanning back to their hatchlinghood. Born a Tundra, she was very understanding when Wyelib told her of his leave. Somaza knew that she would miss her friend while he was off on his adventures, but believed that the nomadic life Wyelib sought was not for her. So, with misty eyes, she bade her friend goodbye.

Without Wyelib to act as leader, Somaza was unsure what to do with her life. She meandered around the Starwood Strand for a few weeks, searching for a clan in need of a new member, but, as she had predicted, none of the swarms were interested in taking in a young, clumsy Tundra. Depressed by the recent events, Somaza crawled into a cave on the cliffside and hibernated.

Somaza slept for two years. She woke from her slumber gaunt and stiff, her winter coat shed under her like a bed. When she emerged, the outside world seemed even more bleak than when she entered. The blinding Sornieth sun cast dreary shadows across the Isles, and the Crystalpine Reaches seemed to no longer gleam and glimmer as beautifully as they once did.

Somaza, feeling bitter about her home-domain, fled the islands and into the Scarred Wasteland. All she knew of the land of the Plague was from peering out over the border between it and the Starfall Isles, and Somaza was in no way prepared for the danger ahead of her.

She wandered for nearly a day around the edge of the Wandering Contagion, wary of crossing it for fear of being infected with something- of what she was unsure, but the threat was there nonetheless.
