Vashti roams the Toxic Wastes from border to border, weaving in and out of the lair as she pleases, picking up random trinkets and materials along the way for reasons unknown. Sometimes she leaves objects for others to find - things they need or want, nothing big but something valuable still. All other times, she seems to hoard what she finds, though no dragon is entirely sure where her personal lair is or what might be in it - even Andiron can't seem to recall digging out a space for her.

Animated Statue As mysterious as its owner, the Animated Statue is a fixture of the Toxic Wastes lair, only on the move when it isn't being watched. It appeared in several places without warning before it was even identified as being related to Vashti; she apologized, in her mirthful way, for scaring the others and promised she would "keep an eye on it". It moves less frequently now, but can still always be found in new locations, never posed the same way.

Backstory

No one can quite recall when Vashti first appeared in the Toxic Wastes - one day she wasn't there, and then she simply was. By her own account, she came from the Wispwillow Grove, though why she traveled away from the Tangled Wood or why she settled in the Scarred Wasteland has never been answered. She seems to imply that a Wispwillow Guide had led her to the Wastes, but no one knows if it's true or not, as a Guide has never been spotted around her.

Her influence over the clan has always been minimal despite an apparent ability to do as she pleases with whatever she has at her disposal. Several clan members have taken it upon themselves to theorize about her, always wondering what exactly her goals are - and what she is truly capable of. Some believe she alters memories, while others believe she is a shadow, a memory of a dragon and not even the real thing. When asked about such things, she prefers to redirect the conversation or simply vanish as soon as she manages to get their attention off of herself. Those who have had her disappear can never remember how it was that she distracted them in the first place.

Some, however, have been able to glean a few select details from her. Medeis knows that Vashti is forever loyal to the Shadowbinder, but heavily respects the Plaguebringer. Spectre knows that Vashti never stands for injustice and will do her best to right it, even if it goes unnoticed. And Jaxis... seems to know something, though whatever it is, she hasn't said it aloud.

Then there is a peculiar case, a dragon who seems to understand Vashti and more - Zuleika. Whatever she knows is a secret she holds close, but the clan has quickly learned that the two have history, and Vashti is no mystery to Zuleika.

While she seems to enjoy most dragons' attempts to understand her and encourages such behavior, Vashti openly despises Zuleika's knowledge and Zuleika herself. When the other dragon first arrived, many members were shocked to see the ever-playful Vashti so vehement towards someone else - this is a memory no one has forgotten, though it seems just the sort of thing that would mysteriously vanish from their minds.

Zuleika is the only dragon who never seems to forget anything relating to Vashti, a fact that hasn't escaped those curious about the relationship between the two. As with most things, Vashti refuses to elaborate.
