Thaw is a member of Shredder's team that is rather mysterious. A calculated killer, he is known for refusing to let an enemy go. He is not a fighter, he is a hunter. He uses his unique array of skills to destroy his targets. Thaw is an excellent reader of situations and is quite good at calculating his moves. As such, Shredder saw the value in a clever fighter and offered Thaw a place on his team. The Skydancer accepted. Thaw's personality can be described as all business- he has little warmth or compassion, and does not have much of a personality behind his words. He is disdainful and dismissive of those he does not respect, and rarely listens to them.

Thaw's main ability is that his ice is also filled with poison. For this reason, he is valued as a member of the team who can not only freeze enemies, but slowly torture them with the toxins contained in his ice. As a result, he is not only adept at fighting, but also torture and interrogation. He is also a decent strategist, and he was the one who led Fenrir in an attack that killed several Azeryx Clan members.

Thaw was born to be a killer. Coming from a similar background as Azeryx's own Skydancer spies, Thaw never felt conflicted by his destiny to be an assassin. Working for an organization of dragons that would be hired to kill important dragons, Thaw was a great threat when he was still a young dragon. He had many small killings and murders in his time as a hatchling, and as his wealth and prestige grew, so did his reputation. Thaw has a very high bounty (considerably higher than most dragons in Shredder's gang, though not as high as Rage) but he doesn't let it perturb him. This is mainly due to his highly organized methods of killing and his ability to poison foes with his ice- often killing them even when they escape.

Perhaps his most infamous deed was infiltrating a Light Clan and killing the Clan's leader for a rival clan of Shadow Dragons. The entire scheme took Thaw three years to achieve- he played his part as a young injured dragon and infiltrated the Clan, romancing the lead dragon's daughter, and even having children with her. But none of it mattered to Thaw. It was all business and on the night he killed the leader in front of his mate, he felt no remorse. He managed to escape the Clan with his life without killing his former mate, but he could handle that later. After this, whispers flew about the land of a dragon who could not be stopped, who would feel no pain and guilt over his deeds. As such, Thaw's nickname was "The Unrelenting"- a dragon who would let nothing interfere with his goals.

Thaw was then given a new assignment by a Ridgeback named Shredder. His assignment was to kill several key dragons in the Azeryx Clan- namely Hallow, Zeryx, and other important dragons. Thaw accepted the offer, but was also told by Shredder he would need to wait for the right time. Thaw was slightly surprised when he found out Angel, his former mate, was in the Azeryx Clan, but showed no signs of concern for her or the fate of their child.

Thaw was often used as a lieutenant by Shredder, and he is usually granted authority to tell others what to do. It was Thaw who ordered Rage's attack on Hallow (though he is annoyed that his plan to kill Hallow was thwarted), as well as cutting Fenrir's leash, causing the death of Jet and Jasper. As a result, Conda had a bone to pick with Thaw, causing a powerful battle to erupt between the two. While Conda narrowly avoided death a few times, he eventually struck down Thaw, who for all his calculations, could not take hits very well at all.

Thaw was locked up in the Azeryx Clan prison after the war, where he attempts to calculate his method of escaping. Of all of the dragons, he may be taking imprisonment the worst. Thaw has gradually lost a lot of his sanity in prison, due to the fact that he is unable to think of a way to escape and complete his mission. As a result,Thaw has become more unhinged, and quietly swears to kill Conda, Hallow and everyone else to complete his mission and return to work.

Thaw gets along with Veil and Fenrir. Hex is interested in working with him to develop new poisons and concoctions. He seems to dislike Zanzibar, and has an interesting rivalry with Octavian (who doesn't take Thaw seriously). His rival in the Azeryx Clan is Conda.
