J6glAsH.gif Kelp's egg was discovered by Scallop, the clan's lead fisherdragon, while she was trawling the waters of the Sea of a Thousand Currents close to the edge of the Windswept Plateau. She brought the egg back to the clan's camp and sought Stella's permission to keep the egg and raise the hatchling as a member of the clan. Stella agreed though she sent a messenger off to the Windsinger's domain in case the parents of the hatchling were looking for their lost egg. So far no Wind dragons have stepped forward to claim Kelp as their own.

Being raised by Scallop has given Kelp a great appreciation for swimming, fishing and anything to do with water. Though a Wind dragon by nature Kelp nevertheless prefers to swim than to fly and has learned to use her Wind magic to breathe underwater.

Since a young age she has been accompanied by her faithful familiar, Jade, a Jadecarved Decoy. Jade is just as fun-loving as Kelp and loves to sail the waters of the Sea of a Thousand Currents, held aloft by a gentle breeze from Kelp. When not swimming, sailing or fishing the two companions love to build sandcastles, forage in the Viridian Labyrinth in search of lost treasure and collect all manner of shiny objects, particularly shells and gemstones. In a very short time the two have managed to gather so many shiny baubles that they have been forbidden to bring any more back to the camp.

Older now, Kelp and Jade have made good use of their gathered baubles by becoming skilled jewellers. They are well known throughout the land for their ability to turn both ancient and new treasures into beautiful jewelry. They pair sometimes work together with Aurum to weave gemstones into her clothing.
