Noah
Origins Noah began his journey before he was old enough to form a thought. He flew on instinct across land and sea. Now, he searches for his origins. Who is he? Where did he come from? Where is his home and why did he leave it? Perhaps something sinister lurks forgotten... 
He remembers in fragments... the brush of a Coatl's plumage... the swish of a Skydancer's tail... two nestmates warm beside his egg... His first concrete memories were of fear, feeling very small and very lost in a forest that felt far too big. The trees seemed to creak and groan, calling out in weary voices; the faces of their knotted bark watching him through hollow eyes with gnarled, fungal teeth just waiting for a taste of a lonely, lost hatchling. He tried to run from them, but they were all around him, leering and reaching with twisted branches. He burst through bushes and gaps in the trees, running and panting, not yet able to fly. He had to get out. His talon caught on a vine. He stumbled, falling head over tail straight into a marshy clearing, where a great beast with eight eyes awaited him. It came closer and closer, sniffing at him with interest. "Hello, Silverfish." It greeted in an interested manner. "Please don't eat me!" He begged, backing away. "I'm very small and I'm mostly gristle, and I would certainly taste very bitter." The beast stopped. And stared. And started to laugh. "I won't eat you. You seem lost, are your clan nearby?" It asked, peering through the trees as if expecting another dragon to come looking. "I... I don't know. I think I've travelled very far from my home, but I don't know where it is. I don't know where I am." He looked miserably up at the great beast. "That's okay. I came a very long way from my home as well, so the Teapot Clan took me in! My name is Piper. Do you have a name?" "I think I'm called Noah." That sounded right. "Well, Noah, maybe my clan can help you find yours! Follow me!" With no better option than to follow this strange dragon, Noah was led to a lively area filled with noise and light and colour. Dragons of all shapes and sized bustled around, going about their business with materials and resources, gathering plants and catching bugs. Perhaps this beast... perhaps Piper wasn't so big and scary after all. She seemed to be just a hatchling herself. "Come on, Silverfish." She encouraged, weaving past tails and talons, ducking under baskets and wings and expertly hopping through the undergrowth. "Gyfni! I found another lost one!" She called, turning a few heads. A Tundra dragon wearing a hempen cloth around his head came to meet her with a smile. |
Clan Tisane"Gyfni! This is Noah. I found him in the woods and he thought I would eat him!" Piper laughed.
"Hello, Noah." Gyfni smiled. "I promise not to eat you."
"Noah said he's lost his clan somewhere far away! Can we keep him? Please?" Piper interjected, turning all eight of her eyes toward the Tundra pleadingly.
"I have to find my clan! I can't stay here, I had a mother, and a father, and siblings! I have to find out what happened to them. I have to understand where I came from." Noah insisted.
"Piper, we can't keep Noah here if he doesn't wish to stay. Is there anything you remember that might help you find them, Noah?"
Noah paused. He thought for a while.
"My father had wings like mine... and I think my mother was a Coatl. I had siblings. Two of them... I hope they're okay."
"That's good. That's very good. Your eyes tell me you were born in the Tidelord's domain, so maybe that would be a good place to start your search." Gyfni mused. "But first you need rest."
Noah thanked the Tundra for his help and let Piper take him to a large tent in the middle of a clearing. He ate until he was full, then lay down in the warm furs for a much-needed sleep.
When he awoke again, he found Gyfni had packed him a small traveller's satchel with some food and a crudely drawn map.
He thanked the dragons for their help and set off on his journey, bravely facing whatever may come.
