______ "And due to the fact that nobody worships you any longer, your shrines are barren and covered in dust, the sacrifices and offerings to you are moldy and overrun with flies, your status of godhood has been revoked. You are no longer welcome among us as well. You will be sent back to the mortal realm as soon as the sun rises and the moon sets. You have until then."
"What?! But- This can't be possible! I'm the god of-"
"Not anymore. From this point on, you are no longer a god of anything. So Khajil, for the sake of everyone's sanity, just head towards the edge of our realm. It will be the least painful for you if you leave from there."
"Painful? What? What do you mean by least painful?"
"Well falling from the realm of gods will not be an easy task. Did you think you would be carried gracefully by one of us? How absurd..."
"Can't I somehow change this? Can't I find a way to stay? Is there any way I... I don't want to leave, isn't there anything I can do?"
"Unless you suddenly fix all your shrines, revive your following, and have half a thousand people pray to you by morning light? No. No there simply is not. I'm growing weary of your begging, so be on your way I once again advise you to be as close to the edges of our realm as you can be."
Khajil watched his future die as it's condemner walked away as if his world didn't just crumbled within his claws.

______ Khajil had nothing else to do except wait for the sun to rise. He no longer had anyone to say goodbye to. All of his other companions had gone through the same fate he was just handed. He never thought he would be one to be following in their footsteps however. A god of woodcarving? Yes. A goddess of wildflowers? Maybe. But him? A god of royalty? He never would've thought the day would come. When would there ever be a day when kings would be ignored? When queens were nothing more than commoners? The thought always seemed ridiculous to him but now it was his new living nightmare. Khajil slowly walked to the edges of the realm of gods, his head held low. The others he passed seemed to do nothing but look away or turn to another to talk about him. He had been here for so long that he thought he would stay among them forever. It wasn't meant to be he guessed. A soft breeze drifted through his wings as he made it to the edge of his realm. He looked down to see nothing but a vast sea of golden tinted clouds. But he knew that below it, was where he was now going to spend the rest of his short, mortal life. He hadn't thought about the life of mortals in ages. His last follower died a good 300 years ago during a small revolution. The last royal... he had been there for their funeral. He used to think they were such peculiar events, funerals, but now he found himself facing the reality that he himself would likely have one.

______ Khajil settled himself at the edge of his soon to be lost paradise and waited for the sun to rise and the moon to set. Here, above everything, both could be visible at the same time. When the positions of both were perfectly aligned, when the sun rose and moon set, the gateway into the mortal's world would open. And they would then strip him of his last threads of godhood and he would fall. Khajil sighed and looked up. He could see the edges of the sun rising. He inhaled a shaky breath and spread his sets of wings. This would be the last time he'd get to see this view. As he watched the sun rise, he wondered if he would come to enjoy the life of a mortal. Before he could think about his answer, the world slipped from under him and he couldn't breathe. He knew it would be quick but he never thought losing his status as a god would be so unceremonious. He tried to open his wings but stopped abruptly. The tips of his wings were in excruciating pain, so much so that he couldn't help but scream out in terror and pain. It spread from his wing tips to the base of his wings and as the pain traveled, his feathers seemed to catch fire and burn before turning a bloody red. His largest pair of wings burned as well, and melted as if it was made of molten glass. As he fell, the glass solidified. At this point however, Khajil was already unconscious from the pain. Unconscious and falling from his heaven. Falling towards his hell.

______ Khajil was awoken to the bright rays of a sunny day in the middle of giant sand crater. Patches of glass shone throughout the crater, his own wings reflecting the light that bounced off the patches.
